2026

2025

2022
The Season update – We have been very busy with trail maintenance and have some significant trail re-
routes to report. The C7B trail behind Summit Lake has been re-routed to a former logging road. When you
cross Sawyer Hollow Rd. you will be directed to this new trail section. Just follow the signs and it should be
easy to see the new section of trail. There are also some significant re-routes on C7N beginning on the north
side of Cross Hill Road. We made these changes to help protect the farmers’ hay fields so it is very important
that you follow the signs we have posted. C7N will now parallel Beard’s Hollow road for a short distance as
you are headed to Summit, so when you cross route 7 from the north side you will need to turn right to get to it.
Again, follow the signs and you should be fine. We have also re-decked the Haslun bridge just off Sawyer
Hollow road.
Also we are planning a vintage sled ride this January if conditions permit. Stay tuned to the website and
facebook page for updates.
New maps are available and can be purchased at the Conservation Club and the Charlotteville store.
If you see any landowners, please make sure to thank them for the use of their land. Landowner’s do not have
to let us ride through their property, so please continue to be courteous of their land so that all our trails remain
open.
Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care Poker Run –This February 25th we will hold our annual poker run to
benefit Helios Care. It will be done in the old style with dinner, music and dancing, and the raffles and auction.
Please plan to come and lend your support to this good cause.
Did you know? – We have a face book page, Summit Sno-Riders Inc.. Trail information and club event
updates can be found here as well as our website. We have a webcam with a snow depth board which has a
light on for night viewing. It works best using fire fox as the browser. You can find it at
www.summitsnoriders.com. Also, we will be keeping NYSSA’s interactive trail map updated with trail info
again this year.
Regular Club Meetings – Meetings are held the first Wednesday in September and the first Monday of the
month (Oct – April) at the Summit Conservation Club at the end of Bear Gulch Road. Meetings begin at 6:30
pm. Remember all members of the family are invited and welcome to attend. If we don’t start getting our
children interested and involved there will be no one willing to continue the roles needed for our sport. There is
always a need for fresh people to get involved.

Membership – Please renew your memberships as soon as possible. It is particularly important this year, as
NY State has not yet decided how funding will be allocated. Membership dues make a big difference.
Remember snowmobile registration fees are only $45 if you are a club member, but $90 if you are not.
Dues – Dues are currently $30 for both individual and family members. The fee is broken down is as follows:
$24 – Club, $5 –NYSSA, $1-SLEDNY, NYSSA’s 501(c)(3). SLEDNY is used to keep our costs for the
annual forum a reduced rate.
Again, next fall when you are getting ready to register with NYSSA, make sure you are using the same
full name and address on your NYSSA membership as you are at DMV for the registration (dx: “Joe” on the
NYSSA membership vs. “Joseph” at DMV; will no longer match or be acceptable by DMV). New members will
have to register online to establish their account with NYSSA. If you are going to go to a DMV office you will
need a printed voucher for EVERY snowmobile you intend to register, as DMV will be keeping the voucher
once presented to them.
Please make certain that your e-mail address is correct and up-to-date on your NYSSA membership. If
you do not have an e-mail account, please check the box indicating this on the application. It is also important,
if applicable, that you list out your spouse and any children under the age of 18 that will be registering and/or a
primary rider during the upcoming season.
There are two ways to renew with the Summit Sno Riders:
1. On-line through the NYSSA website: www.nysnowmobiler.com, this is the preferred
method. Select our club and pay via a credit card. Once the payment is processed, you will
need to print out a voucher for each sled you intend to register in person at DMV. If you
have registered through the NYSSA website in the past, you will need your NYSSA ID to
open your account and renew your membership.
2. Application directly to the club, by mailing an application with a check. We will mail back
your voucher. Applications are processed once a week so please give us a reasonable
amount of time to get your voucher returned to you. If you are one of our landowners,
you are eligible for a free voucher. Just note your status on the mail in application.
Membership questions? Contact Vicki Swartout at (518)294-8946 or [email protected].

Get ready for snow! We have certainly had a warm fall but as I write this the temperature here in Summit is
27 degrees and we have snow in the forecast for Tuesday night. Last year we were able to open the trails on
38 days. Keep your fingers crossed and we hope to see you on the trails.
Sincerely,
Bruce Wollaber, Presidenta
